General dentistry at Parkview Dental Centre

Our wide range of general dental treatments in Ipswich will keep your happy and healthy

- A joined-up approach

At Parkview Dental Centre we have worked hard to create a dental environment that is not only welcoming, calming, and relaxing, it also offers a wide range of services under one roof, provided by a highly skilled team.

The wide skill mix across our team allows colleagues to collaborate and offer second opinions where required, helping to create the best treatment plans for every single patient. We have also ensured that we are able to offer many dental treatments all under one roof. This means that if you require oral surgery, periodontal treatment, dental implants, or orthodontics, we can deliver this in within surroundings that are familiar to you, from the team you know and trust.

This cohesive approach not only ensures you always receive the very best dental care, it is also essential for relieving some of the anxiety around dental treatment.

“I was seen promptly and the receptionists were polite and efficient. I have always been happy with the service I received. I would certainly recommend you to my friends.”

- Dental check-ups

Dental check-ups are where every good dental journey begins… and continues! Regular dental check-ups are important as they allow your dental team to monitor your dental health and spot any changes or potential concerns that may develop into problems.

A small issue is much easier, and less expensive to treat than a bigger problem, so your dental check-ups are as vital to your pocket as they are to your oral health.

We always recommend attending your dental check-ups every six month, when was your last one?

- Dental hygiene

Many people don’t realise how important the gums are for creating a beautiful smile. Your gums form the vital foundation for your teeth, and they require a lot of love!

Dental hygiene appointments are just as important as your dental check-ups, your dentist and hygienist will work collaboratively to create an oral care plan tailored to you. Your dental hygiene team at Parkview will monitor your gum health, remove plaque build-up that can cause gum disease, and provide oral care advice to help you maintain a healthy mouth between appointments.

During your hygiene appointment, your hygienist will carry out a scale and polish. This is where special tools are used to remove plaque that has built up on your teeth. Your teeth will then be polished for that super smooth feeling.

- Tooth extractions

At Parkview Dental Centre we will always do our best to save a healthy tooth. However, sometimes tooth extraction is required if a severely decayed or damaged tooth cannot be restored, or if wisdom teeth are causing pain or problems.

The removal of a tooth requires expert care. Some teeth are easily extracted but most cases are not quite so straightforward. Every tooth extraction has the potential to become complex, which is why we have expert oral surgeons onsite to carry out all tooth removal procedures. This means that every tooth extraction at Parkview is carried out to an exceptional standard, every time.

- Frequently asked questions

  • How often should I see a dentist?

At the minimum, you should see a dentist for a check-up and dental clean twice per year. You may need to have more frequent visits if you are struggling with a dental health problem like gum disease or heavy tartar build-up.

  • Do I need dental X-rays?

X-rays are very important to diagnosing your dental problems and planning safe treatment. This kind of imaging is the only way a dentist can see into your tooth without cutting it open. When you have a dental checkup, your dentist will let you know if you are due for a new set of X-rays.

  • What are the signs that I need a dental filling?

Advanced tooth decay can make your teeth sensitive to temperature and sweets and may present as brown, grey, or yellow stains on your teeth. A throbbing toothache is also a sure sign that your tooth may need repair. But early tooth decay does not cause such noticeable symptoms. In most cases, you will not know that you need a filling unless the dentist notices one on a dental X-ray.
